What is Beyond the Wizard?
A book club whose goal is to read all of the Oz books currently in the public domain.
Do I need to be a fan of Oz to read the books?
Not at all! The purpose is to go beyond the classic story we all know and read the other 40+ books that make up the entire series.
Will we be reading books written by authors other than L. Frank Baum?
Yes, of course! We’ll be reading what is often referred to as the “Famous 40” books. You can see the full list here.
When are chapters sent via email?
Chapters are sent twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, at 10am EST.
How long does it take to read each book?
On average, it takes about 3 to 4 months, depending on the number of chapters, to read through each book.
Are there other emails sent besides chapters?
An “Intro” email is sent prior to the first chapter that includes the Author’s Note, Table of Contents, and Chapter Tracker.
What is the Chapter Tracker?
Whenever you finish reading a chapter we encourage clicking the Like button as a way to track the chapters you’ve read and let the community know how many are reading along. A tracker of how many have read each chapter is located in each book Intro post.
How can I connect with the community?
We like to leave comments after reading each chapter with our thoughts about what we just read.
