I wasn't expecting necromancy! The Gump head remembering its former life, despite being combined with other objects, could have some interesting implications for that powder.
I, too, always liked the Gump. Enough so that when my kids were small, over 30 years ago, we named the car we had at the time, a Ford station wagon, The Gump. The Gump seemed like such a good character that, now that I have read 34 of the Oz books to my granddaughter, it surprises me that it is barely ever mentioned after this book. But, perhaps the authors simply wanted to comply with The Gump's own wishes.
has anybody here read Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality? this bit is as disturbing as the one where Harry turns the sorting hat temporarily sentient

I'm deeply bothered by the Gump bring like "so I'm your slave" and everyone being like "yeah but we'll be kind masters"
Also interesting that the narration calls him "the Gump" but the characters call him "the Thing"
From the Gump's perspective, this is a horror story...
Is it just my imagination, or is this chapter significantly longer than some of the chapters we've had recently?
It is nearly double the length of other chapters we’ve read, that’s for sure!
Y'all see why I love The Gump so much?
