Reading the Oz books to my now 8-year-old granddaughter, the use of homonyms is one of her favorite things in the books. As we have gone along into the post-Baum books, Ruth Plumly Thompson continues with them and may even increase the occurrence of words with multiple meanings.

The first time I read this book, over 60 years ago, when I did not realize how prescient this comment was to what was to come in the book, I suppose I read it differently: "'Because the Emerald City has been ruled by men long enough, for one reason,:' said the girl." I wonder if Tip was influenced by this conversation in later decisions.

This chapter was kinda weird - not sure how I feel about f the Army of Revolt. I think their uniforms are cool, though, and I might color that drawing of the General and Tip if/when I have some spare time

Yeah, they’re effective and driven, but feel a touch odd for a guy who as I understand it was fairly involved in women’s rights circles.

This bit is rather fascinating in light of some stuff I can't talk about yet. Also, I am reasonably certain that quite a number of guys would kill to be in Tip's position ATM.

Also, General Jinjur is another of my fave characters.
